Certification as Outstanding Training Company

STAUFF and LUKAD Holding achieve excellent results

Walter Stauffenberg GmbH & Co. KG was awarded the "Outstanding training company" quality seal for the fifth time and is therefore rewarded for its continuous commitment to vocational training last year. This was based on an evaluation of an anonymous survey of STAUFF apprentices in Werdohl, Neuenrade and Plettenberg, and the analysis of training KPIs by independent economic psychologists.

“STAUFF and LUKAD Holding have continuously achieved excellent results at a very high level over five years,” stresses Klaus Grefe from ertragswerkstatt GmbH, which manages the award of the quality seal.

136 companies across the entire country with over 5,153 apprentices applied for the prestigious and coveted quality seal. The aim of the seal is to offer young people a neutral, reliable and credible guide when it comes to choosing the company at which to undertake their apprenticeship. At the same time, if offers companies the opportunity to clearly present and specifically market their work and performance in vocational training.

The data used for certification as an "Outstanding training company” is obtained using two tools. In the first step, a representative of the company – generally the Head of Training or HR – answers a questionnaire or takes part in an interview in which the key figures governing training and apprenticeships are recorded. This training questionnaire covers the apprenticeship and adoption quotas, as well as the quality of training. In the second step, the trainees and apprentices are then questioned about their personal situation in the company: they rate how good training in the company is from their point of view and how they evaluate their supervision. This involves the image of the company and general satisfaction with their employer, as well as issues, including respect, training content, remuneration, future opportunities, co-determination opportunities and workload.

“Combining the KPIs with assessments by the apprentices themselves gives young people reliable information about how good a training company actually is,” explains Klaus Grefe. After all, only companies that receive good marks from their apprentices and are particularly committed to training are awarded the Outstanding training company 2017 quality seal.

LUKAD Holding apprentices were surveyed as well as those training with STAUFF. “I am proud that we discovered real willingness amongst our apprentices within the Group. We would like to continually improve and it is incredibly useful to obtain such good feedback,” explains Monika Nork-Bobel, Global HR Manager at LUKAD Holding.

“Our result is impressive,” she goes on to say with pleasure. STAUFF received top marks in key categories. “I would just like to mention a few here. We we awarded top marks in scope of work, opportunities for independent learning, workplace equipment and employee interaction. We are also pleased that we performed particularly well in terms of “Respect/appreciation”. It is really important to us during training that we can work on strengths and weaknesses through correct feedback,”explains Niclas von Seidlitz, Global HR Generalist at LUKAD Holding, summarising the results.

Ultimately a company can only be certified as an "Outstanding training company" if its apprentices and trainees confirm this.
