In Starting Position - The New Online Configurator

(Werdohl, April 2009)

Stauff are aiming at a typical win-win situation with their new clamp configurator which is to be launched at the Hanover Fair 2009. Wherever special clamps for fastening tubes, pipes, hoses, cables and components are concerned, a free online tool for configuring the clamps can be accessed from the Stauff website at www.stauff.com/configurator. The user first enters the parameters, such as thread size, material and application, and then specifies the geometric data, for instance the screw positions, line geometrics, clamping width. The programme also takes special requirements that deviate from the input mask into consideration. A spatial, virtual clamp body is generated by the system in real time and can be downloaded in a standard three-dimensional format (such as STEP or IGES) or as an electronic drawing (dxf or dwg format). To achieve this, the customer receives an e-mail with a download link once configuration has been completed. Head designer Ralf Hartmann: “The data is stored for several weeks so that the customer can come back to his individual clamp configuration and, for example, edit it. Providing it is possible to implement the design, an offer is prepared by our sales department once further detail information, e.g. on quantity or target price, has been entered”.
