Stauff completes expansion of its logistics centre

The building measures for the expansion of Stauff’s automated logistics centre in Neuenrade-Küntrop in the German Sauerland region, which were started in spring 2011, were completed on time for the beginning of the new year, and the new premises and facilities have now been commissioned and are fully operational.

The logistics centre, which originally opened in 2002 and was expanded for the first time in 2006, fulfils a central storage function for the company in Germany as well as the numerous subsidiaries throughout the world. It guarantees the shortest possible processing times and the highest possible capacities and flexibility in relation to delivery quality and reliability. The recently completed expansion work was necessary due to the high capacity utilisation that was being experienced, but it also represents a logical step forward for the fluid technology provider against the backdrop of its growth strategy.

During the expansion work, the capacity of the automated small parts warehouse (ASW) was increased by some 20 percent to 34.000 storage places for plastic boxes. What’s more, the number of storage places for Euro pallets in the high-rack warehouse (HRW) was increased by around 50 percent to 7.800. Future capacity increases have already been taken into consideration: for example, the automatically controlled racks can theoretically hold 50.000 plastic boxes and more than 10.000 Euro pallets.

During the construction work, the footprint of the main commissioning hall was also increased by more than 1.000 m². This area is to be used more intensively in future for pre-assembling customer-specific components and preparing them for delivery. In addition to further commissioning workspaces and lorry loading ramps, the hall now also offers an optimised storage area for large-format mounting rails and profiles.

Stauff has invested a total of around EUR 4,2 million in the Neuenrade-Küntrop site.
